We are a vibrant and growing trade association, the voice of the solar industry in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia.

We are dedicated to the notion that a solar economy means more jobs; cleaner air; a more reliable energy supply; resiliency against the growing threat of climate change; and lower, more predictable energy bills.

We empower people to harness the energy of the sun. We advocate for public policies and creative financing tools in our region that broaden solar markets and improve the business climate for those engaged in the solar industry. By bridging information gaps among citizens, industry and elected officials, MDV-SEIA enables the sensible adoption of clean, job-creating solar energy.

MDV-SEIA was founded in 1984 as a 501(c)(6) trade association of photovoltaics and solar thermal manufacturers, distributors and component suppliers. Our membership includes companies that design, sell, install and maintain solar energy equipment for residential, commercial and institutional customers throughout the region. We are also the accountants, lawyers, builders, architects, electricians, plumbers, and consultants that support the solar industries.

We the member companies of the Maryland-District of Columbia-Virginia Solar Energy Industries Association (MDV-SEIA) are committed to protecting the rights of consumers and commercial users of solar energy systems. We are dedicated to providing safe and effective products and services, accurate information about our products and services, fair and honest sales practices and reliable servicing of our products.

Our commitment to these rights means that we will:

1. Produce, specify and install solar energy products and systems that meet high standards of quality and performance.

2. Protect the health and safety of consumers in the design, manufacturing and installation of our solar energy systems.

3. Present honestly the capabilities, performance and energy-producing potential of our systems. We will strive to provide clear and accurate information to our clients and consumers.

4. Offer and honor clear understandable warranties that comply with all applicable codes and regulations. Conform to fair business practices when offering services to clients.

5. Perform product servicing and repairs in a professional manner.

6. Follow the intent and the letter of the law when representing federal, state and local incentives for solar.

7. Advertise only bona fide prices and sell the merits of our products and services without reflecting unfairly on our competitors.
